Before moving to Springfield in 1998, I grew up in Mattoon, Illinois. I walked and talked early, and once I got going I never stopped. As a child, I began organizing neighborhood talent shows, “radio” programs and parades, and even created and distributed my own neighborhood newspaper (The Elm Ridge Gazette – in case you’re checking the archives).
In Jr. High and High School, I was a member of the pom-pon squad, drama club and student council. I could always be counted on to organize social events and parties, and I proudly lived up to my nickname, “Drama Queen”.
The writing was on the wall.
After high school, I attended Lake Land Community College where I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I then transferred to Eastern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communication (what a surprise!) and a minor in Public Relations.
After graduation, a portion of my career was spent as a sales executive in the Chicago area where I continually received top sales awards. However, I felt the pull to return to my roots and moved back to my hometown to work in marketing and public relations. I had found my niche.
In 1998 I decided to make the move to Springfield because I felt it offered the perfect blend of “big city” and “small town”. It was a good fit, so I dug in and planted roots.
After working in the local marketing and fund development arena for seven years, I knew I was ready to start my own consulting firm and put my knowledge and expertise to work for other business owners. So, in 2005 I began managing freelance projects for several clients while continuing to work full-time. With hard work, a lot of extra hours and dedication, my business began to grow steadily, and I decided it was time to take the plunge and make Envision my only focus. In 2007, I officially launched Envision Marketing Solutions, and it’s been full speed ahead ever since!
The rest is history.
Throughout my 20-year career, I have been fortunate to work in both the corporate and not-for-profit sectors, which has afforded me the opportunity to build a strong and diverse background in sales, marketing and public relations.
I am passionate about what I do, and time has taught me that relationships are the foundation of any successful business – well, that, and a lot of creativity! By applying my leadership and communication skills, I have formed many strong relationships with clients, team members and the public.
I always stick to my guns and embrace the quirky side of myself that has led me to this place in life. I am supported by my amazing husband, Joe, my family and friends, and I am proud to play my most important role – mom – to my son and step-daughter.
I just can’t wait to see what happens next!
